Master the Language of CTE
Education, as a whole, and more specifically Career and Technical Education, is filled with a lot of acronyns and basic vocabulary the experienced educators take for granted that everyone knows and understands. This session will help individuals new to CTE grasp a basic understanding of the language used in our industry to better be able to navigate meetings and professional development in K12.
Objectives:
- Recognize and define key vocabulary and acronyms commonly used in schools, including terms related to operations, professional collaboration, and instructional planning.
- Differentiate between terms connected to curriculum, data/assessment, and student support services, and explain their relevance in a CTE setting.
- Apply CTE-specific and career development terminology to classroom practice and conversations with colleagues.
- Communicate confidently and accurately across all areas of school life—operations, instruction, student support, and CTE - by using consistent vocabulary that supports collaboration and student success.
Format:
- Self-paced eLearning course with interactive knowledge checks and real-world scenarios.
- The estimated time to take the course is 45 minutes.
- Completion certificate available after completing the course.
