This self-paced course is the first in our three-part Digital Accessibility series and provides the essential foundation districts need to confidently begin their accessibility journey.
Designed specifically for federally funded institutions, including K–12 public schools, this course demystifies the requirements tied to the DOJ’s 2024 ADA Title II final rule and supports your district in meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards ahead of the 2026–2027 deadlines. With practical guidance, real examples, and actionable tools, participants will learn what accessibility looks like, why it matters, and how to begin improving their district website and digital content today.
Objectives:
- Explain what website accessibility means and why it matters.
- Identify who benefits from accessible content.
- Describe the four WCAG principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR).
- Recognize key accessibility issues and tools for auditing websites.
- Apply foundational strategies to make digital content more accessible.
Target Audience:
- All state and local government entities, including K-12 public schools staff, who are responsible for ensuring their digital content meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.
Format:
- Self-paced eLearning course with interactive knowledge checks and real-world scenarios.
- The estimated time to take the course is 60 minutes.
- Downloadable Website Inventory Tool to create a baseline on determining how many pages you need to fix, what the most common occurring issues are on your site, and determining your highest-priority pages.
- A completion certificate is available after completing the course.

When can I expect my items?

Does CESA 6 accept returns?
If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may return most items within 30 days of the original purchase date. Returned items must be in unused and original condition with all packaging and items intact. To start a return, you can contact us at shop@cesa6.org. Return shipping costs are the customer's responsibility. Certain items cannot be returned, such as digital downloads, access to online courses, custom orders, and final sale items.
How can I apply my organization's tax exempt status to my order?
If you are a tax-exempt organization, please send a copy of your tax-exempt certificate along with the name and business email address associated with the tax exempt account to shop@cesa6.org. You will receive an email notification when the tax exemption has been applied to your account, which will then be applied to all eligible future orders.
