The Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) Model is a research-based instructional model that has proven effective in addressing the academic needs of English learners (ELs). The SIOP Model consists of eight interrelated components:

  • Interaction
  • Practice/Application
  • Lesson Delivery
  • Review & Assessment

Outcomes

  • Understand the 8 SIOP components
  • Practice the features of SIOP lesson plans
  • Implement SIOP into a lesson plan
