The Key to Fluent Reading: Mastering Accuracy and Automaticity

When students are not successful on the Oral Reading Fluency assessment (ORF), it often signals challenges with word recognition, decoding, or phrasing, which can hinder overall fluency. Specific high-leverage strategies will help improve accuracy and automaticity, enabling students to build fluency, boost confidence, and achieve greater reading success.

Benefits

Working on automaticity of word recognition helps students read more fluently by reducing the cognitive load needed for decoding words. This allows them to focus more on comprehension and the meaning of the text, rather than getting stuck on individual words. As a result, students become more confident readers and are able to engage more fully with complex texts.

EVENT CANCELLATIONS

Participant Cancellations: Cancellations must be submitted in writing by emailing info@cesa6.org. Registrants who cancel at least 14 calendar days prior to the event start date are eligible for a full refund, minus any non-refundable service or material fees. Cancellations received 7 to 13 calendar days before the event will be eligible for a 50% refund. No refunds will be provided for cancellations made within 7 calendar days of the event. Participants who do not attend without prior notice ("no call, no show") will be charged the full event fee.

Event Changes or Cancellations by CESA 6: CESA 6 reserves the right to change or cancel an event due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to low enrollment, presenter availability, or other factors beyond our control. Participants will be notified promptly via email and offered either a full refund or a credit toward a future event.

Registration Transfers: Registrations may be transferred to another individual from the same organization at no additional cost. Please contact us at least 48 hours before the event start date to request a transfer.
