1 Day Only: Be a Better Ally: LGBTQIA + | In-Person

About this experience

Reserve your spot to gain essential knowledge and understanding that will benefit both your personal and professional environments. This workshop will help you build general awareness of LGBTQIA+ vocabulary, perspectives, and current social issues. You'll discover practical steps to increase inclusivity in your classroom climate.

Outcomes 

• Be able to define LGBTQIA+
• Use more inclusive language considering gendered language
• In small groups, participants will explore earned and unearned privilege.
• Become more aware of challenges for WI LGBTQIA+ students
• Understand the risks facing our students who identify as LGBTQIA+
• Gain a deeper understanding of the difference between identity, attraction, expression, and sex
• Learn strategies to “Speak Up in the Moment” when you hear bias

Cancellations for Events

Participant Cancellations: Cancellations must be submitted in writing by emailing info@cesa6.org. Registrants who cancel at least 14 calendar days prior to the event start date are eligible for a full refund, minus any non-refundable service or material fees. Cancellations received 7 to 13 calendar days before the event will be eligible for a 50% refund. No refunds will be provided for cancellations made within 7 calendar days of the event. Participants who do not attend without prior notice ("no call, no show") will be charged the full event fee.

Event Changes or Cancellations by CESA 6: CESA 6 reserves the right to change or cancel an event due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to low enrollment, presenter availability, or other factors beyond our control. Participants will be notified promptly via email and offered either a full refund or a credit toward a future event.

Registration Transfers: Registrations may be transferred to another individual from the same organization at no additional cost. Please contact us at least 48 hours before the event start date to request a transfer.
